Historic New Orleans Sanctuary for Worship St. Charles Avenue Baptist Church Architecture Garden District

First Time Guests

  • What to wear? Come as you are. Truly. Our congregation members typically approach fashion in a business casual to casual manner. At Mardi Gras and during the Saints football season, you’ll find even more colorful approaches to worship. Whatever your style, we’ll simply be glad you came to be with us.

  • Finding a place to park and winding your way to the sanctuary may be tricky the first time you try. Like most Uptown churches, there is not a parking lot. Take the streetcar or anticipate walking a block or two.

  • Finding the Sanctuary: We worship at 11:00 AM in the Sanctuary on the 2nd floor of the building located on the corner of St. Charles Avenue and Audubon Street.

You can walk up the main front steps of the building, or you can enter through the courtyard, find the elevator immediately inside, and access the sanctuary a short distance away.

  • Worship Style: We enjoy thoughtful liturgy, informed and socially aware preaching, and organ-and-choir-based traditional worship music. Click here to see an example of our weekly bulletin.

  • LGBTQ+ Community: We have a long history of welcoming, affirming, and including people from the LGBTQ+ community in our life and worship together. We are committed to creating a safe and inclusive space for all of God’s children.
